There was a time when I wasn’t even considered a suitable model, and many people offensively declined to give me work, probably considering my gender identity a hindrance.

I am extremely thankful to all these people for pushing me to the edge, and forcing me to reach the pinnacle of my potential; of becoming the first transgender female news anchor in Bangladesh, and also scheduled to make a guest appearance at the prestigious New York Fashion Week on 12 February, 2022, as the first transgender female from Bangladesh,” said Tashnuva Anan Shishir over a phone conversation from New York.

Invited to USA by Showtime Music and awarded the Best Bangladeshi News Presenter in North America, Anan has been already riding on the wings of her fame. She was about to explore her work opportunities as an international model when she got a call to make a guest appearance at the prestigious New York Fashion Week.

“Since I do not have a work-permit yet, the only way I could represent myself was through making a guest appearance,” informed Anan.

With these words she also indicated that this was only the beginning for the upcoming super model and her representation of Bangladesh in the international arena, through hope, hard-work and perseverance.
